It all began in the lakes region in Western Maine, where a local enterprise was sustained with mountains of oats, nuts and honey with a passion that business is more than just making money like a way of life to help nourish others, the planet and the community as well and that is why Grandy Oats call themselves Real Granola's.
Sure we all know that granola is used as a breakfast cereal to most but some are devoted to loving a sustainable yet natural life style .

 Nat Peirce began on the beach in his home state of Maine which led to an excursion of our nation's natural wonders that entailed work on small farms in Arcata, California. 

 Not long after that Nat found himself heading back to Maine where he opened up shop in a vegetarian bakery and cafe, raised a family and then purchased the GrandyOats business from founders Sarah Carpenter and Penny Hood. 


 Aaron Anker who was home-schooled in his Grandpa Lew's fish restaurant in upstate New York where he learned the true meaning of genuine customer service which still follows his work today. 

 Aaron tried living in a corporate world where he worked in a natural juice business then managed a vegan restaurant in Aspen, Colorado before he hopped on the granola bandwagon .

 Nat and Aaron met when they were Volkswagen  bus driving students at the University of New Hampshire where they both contemplated a life in the corporate world but didn't want to rid their Birkenstock sandals for dress shoes just yet. 

 After a concert in Portland, Maine Aaron and Nat became a team Aaron being Chief Granola officer and Nat head man at Grandy Oats!

Grandy Oats new Chocolate Chunk Coconola is changing the evolution as we know it with their granola with grain-free, paleo and organic granola that is vegan not to mention packed with coconut chips, seeds, nuts and creamy dark chocolate that has been made by hand in small batches at their solar powered bakery providing us with energy that lasts to help us reach our potential!



When it comes to granola I love to put it on top of my smoothies for a satisfying sweet crunch and I did just that with Grandy Oats Chocolate Chunk Cocoanola Coconut Granola in this delightful smoothie bowl of fresh kale, maple water, chocolate protein powder and half of an avocado making it creamy smooth and then topped it off with tart cranberries, coconut chips and granola! 

 I loved the sweet crunch of the seeds mixed with the roasted nuts with the warm maple syrup and vanilla and those beautiful chocolate chunks.

 Being named Chocolate Chunk Granola I would think there would have been more chocolate chips in each bite but there wasn't don't get me wrong it was sweet, crunchy , flavorful but not enough chocolate.
